To determine the views/exposure of your blog, look at the site statistics. This will give you a numerical basis for assessing the overall performance of your blog. There is no need to guess whether it is performing well or not. The numbers should also help you gauge whether you are on the right track to meet your goals, and if the goals you have set for yourself can realistically be attained within your targeted time frame.

Even before you publish your first blog, make sure that you have already implemented a way of measuring its performance. Some website moderators and blog owners tend to forget about this; hence, achieving success can be quite difficult because they are clueless as to which aspect needs to be improved. Measuring the amount of organic traffic within the website, sales conversion, page traffic, and other site statistics will help measure the performance of your blog.

Why You Need to Have Ways to Measure Success

Though the Internet is packed with techniques for building a successful blog site, there is no specific formula guaranteeing success. The strategies may vary from one site to another. It is easy to get lost within the realms of blogging strategies if you have no definitive measurement for which strategies work and which ones should be thrown out the window.

When a website has a reliable statistics generator, you will be able to see which of your blog-growth strategies has been successful. For example, you can identify the primary source of traffic. You can also see which aspects tend to disappoint web visitors. You will also know which of your blogs captures the interest of your targeted audience. With the myriad of statistics that can be tracked for your blogs, make sure that you take advantage of this tool to measure your progress and success.

Measuring Your Blog Traffic

There are plenty of options out there which could help you in measuring site stats. For starters, if your domain name is hosted by a major blogging platform, numbers for page views, referrals, comments, and other statistics are readily available. You just need to check them out regularly.

For more accurate measurements, you can install tools within your website which will monitor all the different statistics. These usually come for free and it only takes a few minutes to create the account, install the plug-in, and have everything up and running.

WordPress offers stats in the Jetpack plugin; there’s Google Analytics or for a really simple tool, check out Site Meter.

Measure Your Sales

You also should be aware of the number of sales that your blog is converting. You can be a little more creative with this aspect of statistic tracking to see who clicks on your advertising and actually purchases the products/services.

One way to track sales is to provide a drop-down box for customers to click through, asking them where they heard about the product or how they came across your site. This will help you identify which of your online strategies results in more sales.

If you use coupons within your blog site, you can also use these in monitoring sales conversion. Since the codes can not be changed, you only need to have an effective tracking system to see which coupons are used.
